Mirla

Emily Mirla Harrison is a pianist, early-career screen composer, and contemporary – classical recording artist. Her signature piano driven scores blend fragile string arrangements with subtle, ambient soundscapes and deft instrumentation to evoke emotional responses and elevate stories. As an exponent of the 'neo-classical' approach, Emily's compositions are gracefully sculpted in rich and sweeping melancholic tones, which slip and slide betwixt the characters, dialogue, dramatic devices and visual cues. Within just 3 years on graduating from Australian Film Television and Radio School, Emily was credited as Music Supervisor and Co-Composer on Feature Documentary ‘Undone’ (iTunes highest rated documentary, May 2020). Emily has commissions for the ABC’s multi-award winning animation ‘Bluey’, campaigns for UNICEF and Billabong, and several short films and award winning documentaries. In 2018 she was awarded the JD music prize to write and record her debut neo-classical concept album 'Solitaire (The Virtue of Patience).
